Rabbin allemand né en 1772, mort le 4 juillet 1839 à Bingen-sur-le-Rhin. Rabbin de Mayence en 1808 avec son frère Löb, il dirigea de 1809 à 1821 l'école talmudique de Hambourg, puis fut rabbin de Bingen jusqu'à sa mort. Plusieurs de ses manuscrits talmudiques sont conservés à la Bodléienne d'Oxford, et le Memorbuch de la communauté de Bingen lui donne le titre de « ha-ḳadosh weha-ṭahor », normalement réservé aux martyrs.
