Il défendit la Kabbale contre les intellectuels séfarades réfugiés d'Espagne et engagea une disputation religieuse avec le franciscain Francesco (Francisco) d'Acquapendente. Son épître Iggeret Ḥamudot, adressée à David, fils de Benjamin de Montalcino, est un plaidoyer réputé de la doctrine kabbalistique.
