Éducateur et écrivain philosophique autrichien né à Prossnitz, en Moravie, le 20 janvier 1823, mort à Troppau, en Silésie, le 21 décembre 1902. Formé à la philosophie et aux langues orientales à Prague, il fut nommé en 1853 professeur de religion au gymnase piariste et directeur de l'école communale de Nikolsburg, puis fonda en 1862 une société de secours aux enseignants invalides, à l'origine de l'Association des enseignants hébreux de Moravie-Silésie, qu'il présida jusqu'en 1898. Auteur de « Vorlesungen über die Jüdischen Philosophen des Mittelalters » (3 vol., Vienne, 1870-1883), il se retira à Troppau en juin 1893.
