Rabbin autrichien né le 11 février 1825 à Boskowitz, en Moravie. Formé au Talmud auprès du rabbin Abraham Placzek et aux langues orientales à l'université de Prague, où il suivit aussi les cours de S. L. Rapoport, il devint rabbin d'Eiwanowitz en 1856 puis, en 1892, de la communauté nouvellement organisée de Wischau, exerçant depuis pour les deux. Il est l'auteur de « Beiträge zur Rabbinischen Sprach- und Altertumskunde » (4 parties, Vienne, 1872-90) et de « Dibre Yehuda ha-Aḥaronim » (1900).
