Rabbin autrichien né à Muttersdorf, en Bohême, en 1816, mort à Brünn le 15 novembre 1882. Après des études à Budapest et Prague, il fut rabbin et prédicateur à Kuttenplan et Dürrmaul à partir de 1843, puis rabbin à Böhmisch-Leipa de 1852 à 1860, avant de s'installer à Prague pour le commerce du livre et d'y diriger, avec Brünn, le périodique « Das Abendland » ; appelé en 1867 comme professeur de religion à Brünn, il y resta jusqu'à sa mort. Il publia notamment une « Geschichte der Israeliten » en deux volumes (Brünn, 1869).
