Cabaliste marocain et professeur de langues orientales et modernes du début du XIXe siècle, né au Maroc, établi à Amsterdam puis en Angleterre. Fervent croyant en l'existence des Dix Tribus perdues quelque part en Asie occidentale, il publia notamment « Yad Mosheh » (Amsterdam, 1809), un récit sur le fleuve Sambatyon, « Ma'aseh Nissim » (Londres, 1834), et « An Historical Account of the Ten Tribes... » (Londres, 1836) ; il séjourna à Édimbourg en 1829, où ses particularités furent évoquées dans le « Blackwood's Magazine ».
