Born in Paris, of a Sephardic Jewish father from Istanbul who became an American citizen (the name Roditi is said to refer to the island of Rhodes). Poet, essayist and above all trilingual translator (English, French, German, Spanish, Turkish…). Figure of modernism, he made Yaşar Kemal known in English.
