Moine franciscain, théologien et scolastique, né à Dunston, dans le Northumberland (selon certains, à Dun, en Irlande), vers 1266, mort à Cologne en 1308. Chef de file de l'ordre franciscain et fondateur de l'école scotiste, opposée aux thomistes, il défendit à l'égard des juifs des positions plus dures que celles de Thomas d'Aquin, allant jusqu'à justifier le baptême forcé des enfants juifs et de leurs parents au nom d'une autorité supérieure à celle des parents.
