Musicien né en Pologne russe le 31 décembre 1861, Michael Drucker étudie le violon dès cinq ans auprès de son père, entre en 1875 au Conservatoire de Kiev, devient directeur de concerts à Kiev en 1877 puis chef d'orchestre de théâtre d'opérette, avant de compléter sa formation à Varsovie ; après des tournées en Suède, en Norvège, en France et en Allemagne, il devient directeur de concerts à l'Opéra de Lemberg en 1880, poste qu'il occupe treize ans, avant de s'installer à Vienne comme virtuose et professeur de musique.
