Rabbin actif vers 1150, grand voyageur qui connaît par lui-même la Pologne, la Russie, la Bohême, la France et l'Allemagne, Isaac ben Dorbolo rend visite peu après 1140 à R. Tam à Ramerupt, puis séjourne à Worms, où il dit avoir vu un responsum des rabbins de Palestine répondant, en 960, à une question des rabbins rhénans sur l'apparition annoncée du Messie — document dont le caractère historique reste discuté. Plusieurs additions au Maḥzor Vitry portent son nom, sans qu'il en soit pour autant le compilateur ; il est aussi cité dans le « Sefer Asufot », le « Shibbolé ha-Léqeṭ » et le « Kol Bo ».
