Talmudiste et homéliste né vers 1744, élève de Joshua Cohen à la yeshiva, où il côtoie Joseph Steinhardt et Jacob Berlin, David ben Joël Dispeck devient dayyan de Fürth puis, en 1771, rabbin de Mering, en Bavière, et de la Forêt-Noire ; appelé en 1778 à diriger la yeshiva de Metz, il devient enfin, en 1785, rabbin de Beyersdorf et de Bayreuth, où il réunit ses homélies dans le « Pardes Dawid », classées selon l'ordre des parachiot et accompagnées de trois cent soixante-cinq solutions à des passages difficiles du « Yad ha-Ḥazaḳah » de Maïmonide (Sulzbach, 1786).
