Diogo, Justiniano Alvares da Annunciação

Archevêque de Cranganor né à Lisbonne en 1654 et mort à Évora le 28 octobre 1713, docteur en théologie chargé d'une mission à Rome, Diogo Justiniano Álvares da Anunciação est nommé en 1692 par Dom Pedro II archevêque de Cranganor, siège qu'il n'occupera jamais, résignant en 1695 pour devenir coadjuteur de l'archevêque d'Évora. Auteur d'un recueil de sermons, le « Trofeo Evangelico » (Lisbonne, 1693-1713), et d'un ouvrage manuscrit annonçant la venue du Messie, il prêche à l'auto-da-fé de Lisbonne le 6 septembre 1705, sermon qui suscite une vive controverse et auquel un juif anonyme répond en 1709 sous le titre « Ante Exordio ».
