Pédagogue hongrois né à Trencsén-Bán le 12 juin 1819 et mort à Budapest le 18 décembre 1889, Heinrich Deutsch enseigne dans les écoles élémentaires de Lovasberény et Kecskemét avant d'être appelé en 1859 à l'école talmud-torah de Budapest ; nommé en 1868 directeur du collège des maîtres israélites puis, en 1876, professeur de Bible et de Talmud au séminaire rabbinique nouvellement fondé, il est le premier en Hongrie à donner un cours sur le Talmud en langue hongroise. Il publie une grammaire hébraïque (1859) et, sous le pseudonyme « David Nieto Redivivus », un « Beleuchtung der Dogmentheorie Leopold Löw » (Leipzig, 1871).
