German Zionist writer and publicist, born in Dresden, died in Tel-Aviv. Co-founder and co-editor of the journal Ost und West (Berlin, 1901–1923) and of the journal Palästina. Practical Zionist, he advocated immediate colonization of 'Greater Palestine' (to Cyprus and El-Arich) and published maps and statistics on world Jewish life. He emigrated to Palestine in 1932.
