Médecin russe né à Goldingen, en Courlande, en 1803 et mort à Moscou en 1870, Julius Davidov, diplômé de l'université de Dorpat en 1833, exerce dans sa ville natale jusqu'en 1838 puis à Moscou, où il devient médecin-chef de l'orphelinat Nicolas ; converti au christianisme peu avant ce déménagement, il est le père du mathématicien August Davidov (1823-1885) et du violoncelliste Carl Davidov (1838-1889).
