Fils de Rebbe Mordechai de Tchernobyl, il fut le plus célèbre des frères et fonda à Talnoye une cour hassidique fastueuse. On raconte qu'il siégeait sur un trône d'argent portant l'inscription « David roi d'Israël vit à jamais », ce qui lui valut d'être un temps arrêté par les autorités russes. Il laissa plusieurs ouvrages hassidiques.
