Né à Amsterdam, formé à la yeshiva Ets Haim. Appelé vers 1690 comme rabbin de la congrégation portugaise de La Haye, poste tenu jusqu'à sa mort en 1728. Fut président des académies Abi Jethomim et Keter Shem Tob à Amsterdam. Sa bibliothèque, vendue à sa mort, comptait 2 148 volumes (hors livres hébreux), dont des ouvrages « interdits » (Uriel da Costa), étudiée par Yosef Kaplan.

Ḥakam et éditeur ; né probablement à Amsterdam ; mort en 1728 à La Haye. Il fut prédicateur des sociétés Abi Yetomim et Keter Shem-Ṭob d'Amsterdam jusqu'à son appel à La Haye comme ḥakam de la communauté espagnole-portugaise qui s'y trouvait. Il est loué comme talmudiste et prédicateur. Il possédait une grande bibliothèque, qui fut vendue aux enchères publiques en août 1728, peu après sa mort, et dont le catalogue, fréquemment cité par Wolf dans sa « Bibliotheca Hebræa », fut imprimé à La Haye la même année. Il publia six sermons en portugais (« Sermoẽs », Amsterdam, 1690) ; la Bible hébraïque, avec et sans commentaire (_ib._ 1700) ; et, avec Solomon Judah Leon, de nouvelles éditions du Shulḥan 'Aruk (1697-98) et du Yad ha-Ḥazaḳah (1702).
