דוד יפלח

Region: Essaouira / Mogador (Maroc)

History register · custodian, not owner

Expert in Andalusian music, he is one of the three artisans — with the poet David Elkaïm and the hazzan Haïm Afriat — of the shaping of « Shir Yedidot » (Shirei Yedidut), the classic anthology of baqashot (paraliturgical piyyutim sung on Shabbat, from midnight to dawn) of the Mogador school, standardized around 1921. The collection comprises some 560 piyyutim and became a reference work for Moroccan liturgy.

The days of this book

This book bears no memory day yet. The sources that document David Iflah give years and centuries, never a day; we do not invent one.
