Rabbin italien de la première moitié du XVIIIe siècle, élève de N. Pincherle, il exerça successivement à Reggio, Livourne et Trieste. Son ouvrage principal, « Bet David », est un commentaire de la Mishna publié à Amsterdam en 1738-39, comportant des diagrammes sur certains points halakhiques qui révèlent de solides connaissances mathématiques. Il laissa aussi des gloses sur le Choulḥan ‘Aroukh (partiellement publiées par Azoulaï), un recueil manuscrit de sermons prononcés à Trieste et des notes critiques contre David Pardo.
