David Encaoua (b. 24 December 1941) is a French economist, professor emeritus at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and associate researcher at the Paris School of Economics (Centre d'Économie de la Sorbonne). A leading specialist in industrial economics, the economics of innovation and intellectual property, he held scientific responsibilities at the CNRS and worked with the OECD and the French Ministry of the Economy. Bearing the Encaoua name, he authored the essay 'Des passeurs de pensée juive d'origine hispano-maghrébine : la lignée Encaoua', which traces the family's ancestry — hence his attachment to this lineage on the platform.
