David, Benjamin Ferdinand

Député français né à Niort, dans les Deux-Sèvres, le 30 mars 1796 et mort dans la même ville le 24 janvier 1879, Benjamin Ferdinand David étudie la médecine puis navigue comme chirurgien auxiliaire de marine dans le golfe du Mexique en 1813-14. Député des Deux-Sèvres de 1834 à 1837 puis de 1842 à 1846, maire de Niort en 1840, il siège à l'Assemblée législative de 1849 puis, de 1852 à 1870, sous le Second Empire, dont il soutient le gouvernement après avoir approuvé le coup d'État du 2 décembre 1851.
