Rabbin français de la première moitié du XIIIe siècle, élève de R. Salomon de Montpellier, David ben Saül compte parmi les rabbins de Provence qui condamnent les œuvres philosophiques de Maïmonide et l'étude de la philosophie ; il est également cité dans un commentaire anonyme sur Baba Meṣi'a dû à un rabbin provençal, lui-même repris dans les responsa de Joseph ibn Lab et de Joseph di Trani.
