Rabbin et auteur russe né à Turets, dans le gouvernorat de Minsk, en 1792 et mort à Minsk le 27 avril 1861, David Tevele ben Moses étudie dès quinze ans à la yeshiva de Volojine sous Rabbi Ḥayyim, devient à vingt-cinq ans rabbin de Stoubtsy, poste qu'il occupe de 1817 à 1849, année où il est élu grand rabbin de Minsk, fonction qu'il garde jusqu'à sa mort. Il écrit le « Bet Dawid », recueil de responsa et de sermons, et laisse après sa mort le « Naḥalat Dawid » (Wilna, 1864) et le « Dibre Dawid » (Wilna, 1882).
