Astrologue italien du XVe siècle, membre de la famille Kalonymus, David ben Jacob Meïr rédige en 1464 deux traités d'astrologie, dont le plus court, sur la conjonction de Saturne et Jupiter, est dédié au roi Ferdinand Ier de Naples dans l'espoir d'obtenir la liberté religieuse pour ses coreligionnaires. En 1466, il traduit du latin en hébreu, sous le titre « Mar'ot ha-Kokabim », un ouvrage astronomique de Jean de Gmünd décrivant un instrument inventé à Vienne en 1417, et le roi l'investit d'une charge, probablement celle d'astrologue ; en 1484, il adresse à son fils Ḥayyim Kalonymus un traité philosophique sur la « Destructio Destructionis » d'Averroès.
