Hébraïsant et talmudiste né à Belgrade vers 1620 et mort à Londres vers la fin du XVIIe siècle, Joseph ben Jacob ben Moïse ibn Danon est secrétaire de Joseph Almosnino, rabbin de Belgrade. Lors de la prise de la ville par le prince Max Emmanuel d'Autriche, le 6 septembre 1688, il est exilé avec l'essentiel de la communauté juive, survit précairement en Moravie, puis gagne Amsterdam où le mécène Joseph Ẓarfati le prend sous sa protection. Il y compose le traité « Sheloshah Sarigim » sur la Loi, le Culte et la Charité, avant de s'établir à Londres, où il demeure estimé jusqu'à sa mort.
