Daniel Timsit, né à Alger le 16 décembre 1928 dans une famille juive algérienne (mère de Constantine, père d'Alger, grand-père rabbin de Constantine), mort à Paris le 2 août 2002. Étudiant en médecine et militant communiste puis clandestin du FLN, il organisa des laboratoires d'explosifs (« réseau Timsit »). Devenu médecin, il a publié à partir de 1998 plusieurs récits sur son engagement.
