Enseignant et polémiste, actif en Angleterre vers 1838. Il donne des cours d'hébreu à quelques étudiants de l'université de Cambridge alors que les professeurs régius d'hébreu y sont durablement absents ; opposé à l'émancipation des Juifs, qu'il craint favorable à leur conversion, il publie en 1829 deux ouvrages sur le sujet, The Fifth Empire et The Last Generation, tous deux édités à Cambridge.
