Industriel grec, né à Zante en 1865, président de la communauté juive d'Athènes. Formé à Paris, où il obtient un doctorat ès sciences et un diplôme d'ingénieur de l'École supérieure de télégraphie, il travaille d'abord pour la Société Edison de Paris puis pour la Société d'entreprises d'Athènes, où il construit en 1887 le premier établissement d'éclairage électrique de la ville, contribuant à répandre l'électricité et la téléphonie en Grèce. Il fonde aussi une maison de commission et de banque devenue en moins de treize ans l'une des premières d'Athènes, et le gouvernement grec le nomme en 1900 secrétaire de la commission chargée du pavillon athénien à l'Exposition de Paris.
