Converti au christianisme, il vécut à Paris puis à Metz dans la seconde moitié du XVIIe siècle, descendant du rabbin Jacob Weil de Nuremberg. Ayant embrassé le christianisme dans sa jeunesse, il étudie la théologie à la Sorbonne et se consacre à l'interprétation du Yad ha-Ḥazaqah de Maïmonide, dont il traduit en latin plusieurs traités, publiés à Paris entre 1667 et 1678, ainsi que le Sefer ha-Qorbanot avec l'introduction d'Abravanel au Lévitique, à Londres en 1683.
