Médecin autrichien, né à Spalato, en Dalmatie, le 19 janvier 1839. Formé au gymnase de sa ville natale puis à l'université de Vienne, où il obtient son doctorat de médecine en 1872, il y exerce comme spécialiste des troubles de la parole et ouvre en 1882 un dispensaire privé pour les bègues. Il est l'auteur de plusieurs ouvrages sur la pathologie du langage, dont Pathologie und Therapie der Sprachanomalien (Vienne, 1886) et Uebungsbuch für Stotternde (Vienne, 1891).
