Chirurgien militaire français, né à Nancy le 11 mai 1812 et mort à Paris le 18 septembre 1872. Entré au service de santé des armées en 1832, il devient chirurgien en 1834 et dirige la clinique de l'Hôtel des Invalides sous le baron Larrey, avant d'être fait chevalier de la Légion d'honneur en 1849 pour son dévouement lors du choléra d'Oran. Fait officier de la Légion d'honneur en 1859 pour ses services pendant la campagne d'Italie, à Magenta et Solferino, il perd la vue en 1863 et se retire.
