Born in Baghdad in an Iraqi Jewish family of textile merchants, they emigrated to the United Kingdom in 1947 to escape persecution and settled north of London. In 1970 they founded the Saatchi & Saatchi agency. Charles is also a major art collector (Saatchi Gallery); Maurice, created Baron Saatchi, sat in the House of Lords.
