Bien que peu favorable aux juifs, il protesta avec vigueur contre les lois qui les opprimaient en Italie, démontrant dans un ouvrage paru à Milan en 1899, Ricerche Economiche sulle Interdizioni Imposte dalla Legge Civile agli Israeliti, que leur mise hors-la-loi nuisait à la société tout entière.
