Médecin allemand, né en 1859 à Schwerin-sur-la-Warta, dans la province de Posen. Formé aux universités de Berlin et de Leipsic, où il obtint son doctorat de médecine en 1883, il s'installa la même année comme médecin à Berlin, fut assistant de Baginsky jusqu'en 1890, puis ouvrit un hôpital pour enfants ; il contribua à de nombreuses revues médicales et publia notamment, à Berlin en 1901, son étude sur l'examen des écoliers déficients mentaux.

Médecin allemand; né à Schwerin-on-the-Warta, province de Posnanie, Prusse, le 25 mai 1859. Il reçut son éducation aux universités de Berlin et de Leipzig, de cette dernière il obtint son diplôme de docteur en médecine en 1883. La même année il s'établit comme médecin à Berlin, étant assistant de Baginsky jusqu'en 1890, quand il ouvrit un hôpital pour enfants. Cassel a contribué de nombreux essais aux « Archiv für Kinderkrankheiten », « Berliner Klinische Wochenschrift », « Deutsche Medizinische Wochenschrift », « Therapeutische Monatshefte », « Allgemeine Medizinische Centralzeitung », etc. Particulièrement remarquable est son « Ueber die Untersuchung Geistig Minderwerthiger Schulkinder », Berlin, 1901.
