Homme d'œuvre communautaire australien, né en 1814 et mort à South Melbourne en 1886. L'un des plus anciens colons de Victoria, il arriva à Melbourne en 1838 après un séjour de deux ans à Sydney, présida la congrégation hébraïque de Melbourne et fut administrateur de la synagogue de Bourke Street, ainsi que le premier membre juif du conseil municipal et le premier magistrat juif de la colonie ; il occupa pendant dix-sept ans le poste d'inspecteur des marchés de viande.
