L'un des principaux rabbins et talmudistes polonais de la fin du seizième siècle et du début du dix-septième, mort à Posen vers 1610. Bien que son nom, variante probable du patronyme Cases, suggère une origine italienne, il se faisait lui-même appeler Shapiro ; après avoir été grand rabbin de Lemberg, il devint rabbin de la ville de Posen, tandis que Mordecai b. Abraham Jafe était rabbin du district de Grande-Pologne. Bien qu'il n'ait laissé aucun écrit, il comptait parmi les premières autorités talmudiques de son temps ; son fils Salomon, mort en 1612 à Lemberg, fut lui aussi un talmudiste éminent.
