Italian philosopher and poet from a Jewish family in Gorizia (Ashkenazi descent). He took his own life at age 23 shortly after completing his dissertation La persuasione e la rettorica, a radical critique of existence opposing "persuasion" (self-possession) to "rhetoric." His father directed the local branch of Assicurazioni Generali.
