Voyageur juif né à Salonique. À l'occasion d'un voyage d'affaires au Yémen en 1874, il étudia la situation des juifs de la région et publia en judéo-espagnol le récit de son voyage, Zikron Teman ó el Viage en el Yémen, à Constantinople en 1875. Il parcourut l'intérieur de l'Arabie, s'intéressant particulièrement à la communauté de Sanaa, et intervint auprès de l'Anglo-Jewish Association et du grand rabbin de Constantinople pour qu'un rabbin y soit envoyé.
