Personnage important de la communauté juive française du dix-huitième siècle, né en 1711 à Aurich, en Hanovre, et mort à Paris en 1784. Installé d'abord à La Haye avant de s'établir en France, où il obtint sa naturalisation, il acquit en 1774, par prête-nom, la baronnie de Picquigny et la vicomté d'Amiens, devenant ainsi baron de Picquigny. Deux de ses trois fils furent guillotinés sous la Terreur ; le troisième mourut sans postérité en 1824.
