Simon Budny est un prêtre calviniste lituanien du seizième siècle, fondateur de la secte polonaise des Budnistes, surnommés « demi-Juifs ». Formé à l'Académie de Cracovie, où il côtoie des disciples de Socin et de Blandrata, il est invité en 1562 par le prince Nicolas Radziwill à devenir pasteur de la nouvelle église calviniste de Kleck, où il entreprend sa traduction polonaise de la Bible, publiée à Nieśwież en 1572; il se tourne ensuite vers le socinianisme, dont il devient l'un des missionnaires les plus zélés en Lituanie. Grand ami des Juifs, il est loué par Hezekiah David Aboulafia pour son admiration du Talmud; il serait mort, selon Graetz, en 1584.
