Abraham David Buczacz, fils d'Asher Anshel, est un talmudiste galicien né en 1770 à Nadworna et mort en 1840 à Buczacz; enfant prodige du Talmud, il est choisi comme gendre dès sa dixième année par Tsevi Hirsch, auteur du « Neta' Shaashouim », et devient rabbin de Goslowitz à vingt ans. D'abord sceptique envers les miracles hassidiques, il se tourne vers la Cabale sous l'influence du rabbin Lévi Isaac de Berditchev, épreuve qui manqua de le rendre fou avant de le réconcilier avec le hassidisme. En 1813, il succède à son beau-père comme rabbin de Buczacz, et laisse plusieurs ouvrages, dont « Da'at Kedochim » (Lemberg, 1870) et « Eshel Avraham » (Lemberg, 1885).
