P. Buchholz est un rabbin allemand né le 2 octobre 1837 et mort à Emden, dans le Hanovre, le 20 septembre 1892. Rabbin de Märkisch-Friedland de 1863 à 1867, puis de Stargard en Poméranie, il devient en 1875 grand-rabbin de Frise, poste qu'il occupe avec distinction jusqu'à sa mort; bon talmudiste, versé aussi en philosophie moderne, il publie un ouvrage sur les relations juridiques et morales de la famille selon le droit juif (Breslau, 1867) ainsi que plusieurs articles historiques dans les périodiques juifs allemands.
