Moritz Wilhelm August Breidenbach est un juriste allemand né à Offenbach-sur-le-Main le 13 novembre 1796 et mort à Darmstadt le 2 avril 1857, fils de Wolf Breidenbach. Diplômé en droit de l'université de Heidelberg en 1817, il exerce à Darmstadt dès 1820, devient conseiller du trésor en 1831 puis conseiller de cabinet en 1836, entre au conseil d'État en 1848 mais doit démissionner à l'éclatement de la Révolution, avant d'être rappelé en 1849 comme conseiller en chef de l'instruction jusqu'à sa mort; principal auteur du code pénal de Hesse, il participa aussi à la rédaction du droit commercial et cambiaire allemand.
