Adolphe Brecher est un médecin autrichien né à Prossnitz, en Moravie, en 1831, et mort à Olmütz le 13 avril 1894, fils du médecin Gédéon Brecher. Formé à l'université de Prague, d'abord aux études juives puis à la médecine, il s'installe à Olmütz en 1859 et y exerce jusqu'à sa mort; esprit brillant et poète plein d'humour, il publie plusieurs recueils de poèmes humoristiques, dont « In müssigen Stunden » (Berlin, 1890) et « Im Schaukelstuhle » (Berlin, 1891), une traduction poétique des Psaumes (Vienne, 1862), et achève l'ouvrage inachevé de son père sur les noms propres bibliques (Francfort, 1877).
