Bonald, Louis-gabriel-ambroise

Louis-Gabriel-Ambroise de Bonald est un philosophe, homme politique et polémiste antijuif français né le 2 octobre 1774 et mort à Nomma le 23 novembre 1840. Opposé à la Révolution, il émigre en 1791 à Heidelberg, où il rédige son premier ouvrage important, condamné par le Directoire, avant de rentrer en France et de devenir un chef de file de la réaction politique et religieuse; dans un article du « Mercure de France » du 8 février 1806, il reprend les accusations antisémites usuelles et exige des Juifs qu'ils se convertissent au catholicisme avant l'émancipation. Après la Restauration, il siège comme député de 1815 à 1822 et entre à l'Académie française en 1816.
