Luigi Filippo Bolaffio est un journaliste et éditeur italien né à Venise en 1846 et mort à Milan en 1901. Fondateur à Gênes de la revue littéraire « La Favilla », il revient à Venise en 1866 puis s'installe à Milan en 1880, où il dirige le journal politique « L'Italia » avant de fonder la « Gazzetta Nazionale »; après plusieurs duels et la mort d'un de ses fils, il se retire de la politique et fonde la maison d'édition milanaise Casa Editrice Verri, tout en rédigeant, avec son épouse Sulamith Jolles, seize volumes de guides touristiques. Il publie aussi « Il 14 Giugno 1859 » (Venise, 1867) et le roman « Augusta » (Milan, 1888).
