Grigori Isaakovitch Bogrov est un écrivain russe né le 13 mars 1825 à Poltava et mort le 10 mai 1885 à Derevki, dans le gouvernement de Minsk. Consacré exclusivement au Talmud jusqu'à son mariage à dix-sept ans, il apprend ensuite seul le russe, l'allemand et le français; séparé de sa femme, il publie son premier roman autobiographique, « Zapiski Yevreya », dans les « Otetchestvennyïa Zapiski » (1871-73) puis en volume en 1874. Installé à Saint-Pétersbourg, il se convertit dans ses dernières années à l'orthodoxie grecque et se remarie, tout en publiant de nombreux autres récits, dont « Yevreiski Manuskript » (Saint-Pétersbourg, 1876).
