Marc A. Blumenberg est un critique musical et éditeur américain né à Baltimore le 21 mai 1851, formé dans les écoles publiques de la ville puis au Loyola College. Critique musical du « Baltimore American » puis du « Sun », il s'installe à New York en 1879 et y fonde peu après le « Musical Courier », l'un des hebdomadaires musicaux les plus influents, avec des bureaux en Allemagne, en France, en Angleterre et en Italie.
