Samson (Simson) b. Isaac ha-Lévi Bloch est un auteur galicien né à Kulikow, près de Lemberg, en 1782, et mort dans la même ville le 7 octobre 1845. Formé au Talmud, à la Bible et à la grammaire hébraïque, il se lie d'une amitié durable avec Nachman Krochmal, se tourne vers la Haskalah et publie en 1809, à Lemberg, un texte de Salomon b. Adret contre l'étude de la philosophie assorti de la réponse de Bédersi. Appelé à Vienne en 1812 comme correcteur chez l'imprimeur hébraïque Anton Schmid, il y traduit en 1813 les « Vindiciae Judaeorum » de Manassé ben Israël, puis publie en 1822, de retour à Kulikow, le premier volume de son œuvre majeure, « Shebilé 'Olam ».
