Hermann (Ḥayyim) Bloch est un écrivain allemand né à Breslau le 26 avril 1826 et mort le 19 novembre 1896, petit-fils du grand-rabbin Abraham Tiktin et neveu du grand-rabbin Solomon Tiktin, dont il reçut sa formation halakhique. À vingt-sept ans, il publie la première partie de son « Mebo ha-Talmud », tentative savante de nouvelle théorie du développement de la Halakha, puis, entre 1887 et 1893, les quatre parties de ses « Hirhuré Torah »; il publia aussi une reconstitution du plan du Temple d'Hérode (1883) et un recueil de cent sept proverbes orientaux, « Omri Inshi » (1884). Marchand à Rawitsch puis à Breslau, il finit ses jours comme érudit résident à Breslau.
